The Federal Reserve Board shocked the country recently by telling us that just since 2010 began, 1.4 million people have filed for bankruptcy and 900,000 homeowners have foreclosed on their residential properties. We are in some seriously scary times.

The Federal Reserve released an even scarier set of numbers. Our national consumer debt is at a frightening $2.46 trillion dollars. Of that, $866 billion is credit card debt alone. How did our country get into this situation? How are we going to get rid of this credit card debt? Many people think that it is impossible to get out of debt when there are such high numbers involved, but it is possible with debt negotiation!!

Until most recently, debt settlement has been a touchy subject with my consumers who are looking for a way to pay off their unsecured debt. A common known fact of debt settlement is that you can actually get out of debt for less than you owe! Unfortunately, a lot of the bad reputation of debt settlement is that the companies charge outrageous upfront fees that do not benefit the consumer. There are a lot of companies out there who do charge those kinds of upfront fees, but recently, we have seen a program come to the table that charges NO upfront fees!! The Simple Plan is here to help!

The Debt Settlement Program is the company that is responsible for the new Simple Plan program. Their motivation when creating this program was to create a program that benefits the consumer first and foremost by charging no upfront fees. The company is performance based; they make no money until your debt is paid off. For more details about this fantastic program, visit their website at The Debt Settlement Program. Feel free to give them a call as well at 1-877-386-3603

President Obama proposed the new CARD act in 2009 which took effect last Monday. This law has quite a few consumers excited that credit card companies are going to be limited to the fees that they can charge you. Another change that you will be able to note on your credit card statements is that the credit card companies are now going to be required by law to tell you how long it would take you to pay off your credit card debt if you only paid the minimum payment. It seems as if this will be a good move because consumers can now see that they will be paying their minimum amount for years to come! Possibly even tens of years!

As these consumers view how long it is going to take them to pay off their debt, and how much money they will be paying back (in interest, fees, etc), they are hopefully going to seek help. There are many options currently available to help these people find a way out of debt. When seeking assistance with this debt, a simple Google search could confuse the consumer since things like: debt settlement, debt counseling, debt consolidation, bankruptcy, debt negotiation all appear. Which to choose?

Debt settlement is a process where the third-party company that is working for you will negotiate your unsecured debt balances with your creditors and settle for an amount that is usually significantly less than what you owe. Debt consolidation is basically borrowing money to pay off your old debt, but you are still in just as much debt…it is just new debt instead of old debt.

Are these new reflections on your credit card statements going to give you the motivation to get out of debt? The Debt Settlement Program offers a negotiation program that has no upfront fees. With no out of pocket expenses, what is there to lose? You’re going to lose your debt and learn how to live a life free of unsecured debts. Visit their website today for more information about the exciting and cutting edge program they just released. If you feel more comfortable on a telephone, give them a phone call at 1-877-386-3603

Here are a few tips to helping decide which is a better avenue for you to take.

The “obvious” advantage to a non-profit debt settlement company is that the services offered are free. If something were to go wrong, you would not be out any money and neither would they. A point to consider is that debt settlement is usually utilized because people are desperate for some financial relief. If a negotiation fails through the non-profit agency, you are left with not many options except bankruptcy.

One thing that you can count on with for-profit debt settlement companies is that they are committed to settling your debt. There are many good and honest debt settlement companies out there today, but my recommendation is to look for one that has no upfront fees.

The Debt Negotiation Program is a for-profit debt settlement company that is the best at what they do. This great company is motivated to settle your debt for the amount farthest from the original balance. The company is performance based, which means that they do not even make any money until they save you money by settling your debt. Visit The Debt Negotiation Program on the web today or give them a call for a free debt settlement quote from a debt consultant. 1- 877-682-0500

Slavery? Civil War? How about Thomas Jefferson? Louisiana Purchase? Declaration of Independence? How about bankruptcy? At a point in their lives, Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln were completely bankrupt. Lincoln actually had a business venture fail and paid back the debt for 17 full years!

As we look back into history, we can wonder what they would have done differently if they had access to a debt settlement program. What do you think Lincoln would have done? Lincoln and Jefferson were both incredibly intelligent men; I think they would have utilized services such as debt settlement in a heart beat.

Over time, things have changed, such as forms of debt, fees, interest, etc. The reality is that there are options that you have as a consumer that do not include paying back the full amount of the debt or any of the outrageous interest rates that come along with unsecured debt.

The good news is that there are now helpful alternatives to bankruptcy. Debt Settlement Programs settle your debt for a lesser amount than you originally owe. A perk that The Debt Settlement Company offers is that from the day you enter into their program (that has no upfront fees), you are not liable for one dollar more of interest or fees that accumulate on your unsecured debt. The savings alone from not having to pay any further interest are amazing.

For more information regarding what a great alternative to bankruptcy that debt settlement is, contact Financial Consulting Services. They offer a simple plan that has no upfront fees, and offers you savings on your unsecured debt! If you would like to talk to a direct debt consultant for a free quote, their phone number is 1-877-682-0500.

Debt Negotiation is the process of negotiating with a creditor to pay off a percentage of a balance owed on old bills, invoices, lawsuits, liens, medical bills, utility bills, and judgments. This process is commonly used in debt settlement and debt arbitration. Since 30% of the 1.6 million bankruptcies filed in 2005 occurred on debt that was current, it is often in the best interest of creditors to negotiate management debt repayment schedules with debtors experiencing hardship. They do this through their own programs, promoted through credit counseling, or through independent debt arbitrators using debt negotiation.

There are all types of debt services out there. Some are better than others and what may be good for one consumer may not be so great for another. But, fact of the matter is people are struggling with their unsecured debt and they need to be able to utilize services from companies that have the goal of getting them out of debt as a priority. So many debt service companies are just out there to turn a profit. They do not have the consumers best interest at heart and end up putting the consumer in a worse off position than they were to begin with.

That is why debt negotiation through The Simple Plan is always a great option for consumers. Debt Negotiation is the type of program that benefits the consumer over the creditor. The goal of debt negotiation is to get the consumer out of debt for less than they owe. While typical debt negotiation programs have taken a bad wrap for charging upfront fees. The Simple Plan has changed all of that.

The Simple Plan, debt negotiation program, does not charge any upfront fees to the consumer. They simply help the consumer establish a savings account for the sole purpose of saving money that will go towards paying off their debt. While the consumer saves, the negotiators begin working with their creditors to come to a settlement on the account that is beneficial to the consumer. It isn’t until the account is settled and paid that the debt negotiators charge anything.

An imprtant thing to remember when seeking debt services is that you should always choose a reputable company. When looking online, listening to radio advertisements or going through the phone book it can be hard to spot the difference between a legitimate company and a company that you probably shouldn’t put your trust into.

There are several organizations that work to regulate debt service companies and allow the service companies become members so long as they follow their strict guidlines. There is USOBA, which is the United States Organization for Bankruptcy Alternatives, TASC, The Association of Settlement Companies and ACCORD, American Coalition of Companies Organized to Reduce Debt.
